Snow Fun #1 - Tubing!

December 01, 2008

The snow this last weekend has me in the holiday spirit, and thinking about all of the fun things we can do in it.  While many of these things won't open for a bit, it is time to start thinking about the things to do to make all of this cold tolerable.  Today's topic, tubing hills.

Theo Wirth Park - On the 10th hole of the golf course they have already started to setup for the tubing season.  Price includes tube rental, and they have tow ropes to make the trek up the hill that much easier.  It is a bit spendy, but I hear it is totally worth it.  At the sledding hill you can rent a tube, or bring your own for a less expensive option.

Columbia Golf Course - Another park and rec location.  Bring your own, or rent a tube.  There aren't any tows, but it can count as your exercise.

Buck Hill - In Burnsville for the south metro.  They already having skiing, and the tubing will open when there is enough snow.  Kids under 5 aren't allowed, and older kids need to be with an adult.

Three Rivers Parks District (Elm Creek North Metro)- They allow kids as young as 4 years old, and are already open.  They even have lighted sliding hills for some magical night time fun.

There are other great places to go sledding in tubing around the cities.  Powderhorn Park has some great hills, as do many others.  What are your favorites?
